On Monday, December 22, 2025, the Whitley County Consolidated Schools Board of Trustees approved Dr. Trent Lehman as the next Superintendent for Whitley County Consolidated Schools.
Whitley County Consolidated Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Trent Lehman as its next superintendent. Dr. Lehman brings to the district a wealth of educational leadership experience and a strong commitment to student success and community engagement.
Dr. Lehman’s transition to leadership of WCCS follows tenures as superintendent at Bloomfield School District, in Bloomfield, Indiana and at Southern Wells Community Schools in Poneto, Indiana, a role he has held since November 2022.
Originally from Berne, Indiana, Dr. Lehman received his bachelor’s degree in biology and secondary education from Grace College, his master’s degree in education from Indiana Wesleyan University, and his Ph.D. in educational leadership from Indiana State University. Throughout his career, Dr. Lehman has demonstrated a passion for instructional excellence and innovation, exemplified by recent recognition for collaborative initiatives with teachers and community partners.
Dr. Lehman thanked the board for the opportunity to lead WCCS, saying, "I'm honored to be chosen to serve as the superintendent of Whitley County Consolidated Schools." He noted that Columbia City offers "...small-town values in a growing community that is expanding and thriving... Some of those that come to mind are relationships, faith, teamwork, school and community pride, hard work, and a strong commitment to putting students first."

Dr. Lehman’s career reflects a deep belief in preparing students to thrive in a dynamic world, and he looks forward to building on the district’s strengths while fostering a culture of innovation, equity, and achievement for all students.
Dr. Lehman will begin his tenure on July 1, 2026 following the retirement of Dr. Laura McDermott.
